Oblong Brimmed Super Sun Fishing Hat
This is the Oblong Brimmed version of the popular Super Sun Hat for men and women. The wide brim is 5" in the front and the back to offer maximum protection to the face and neck. The sides of the brim are 4" which is plenty wide to protect the ears and sides of the face.
I designed this new Oblong Brimmed Super Sun hat with 2 things in mind - men and wind! I've had questions from men who need maximum sun protection but wonder if the regular Super Sun Hat is too feminine. Of course I don't think so, but if someone feels uncomfortable with their hat, then they may not wear it and that's no good!
As for the wind - anyone who wears a wide brimmed hat in the wind knows that it can be a problem - the wider the brim, the more surface area for the wind to catch. My hope is this hat will be less likely to catch the wind with its longer front and back and narrower sides.
I offer this wide brimmed summer sun hat in a wide variety of colors to suit all tastes!
This new wide brimmed sun hat has all the same practical features as the Super Sun Hat for anyone who needs the ultimate protection for their face, ears and neck. The oblong 5"/4" brim is like wearing a small umbrella on your head!
I make this hat out of Solarweave, which is a high tech solar protective fabric that has an "Excellent" UV protection rating of 40-50+. It is nylon supplex, so it is very lightweight, breathable and dries quickly.
I put closed cell foam in the brim and use a dark colored cotton or cotton batik on the underside of the brim. This gives the extra wide brim structure and stability. It has a drawstring around the head to adjust the size to fit from 21 ½" up to 24 ½" head circumference and also a neck strap to make sure it stays with you at all times. These extra wide brim sun hats come with CoolMax mesh vents on the side for ventilation and an inner band of wicking material. This helps to keep a cool and dry head.

The Just Right! Fishing Hat
I call it Just Right! Because the 3 ½" brim offers a great deal of protection while, at the same time, it doesn't "get in the way". It has all the same great features of the Super Sun Hat but may be more practical for folks who need a hat they can be very active in.

The Fishing Booney
This fishing hat has a wide brim, (2 5/8"), all the way around for practical sun protection. It has a drawstring around the head to adjust the size to fit from 21 ½" up to 24 ½" and also a neck strap to make sure it stays with you at all times. These cotton canvas or Solarweave fishing hats come with CoolMax mesh vents on the side for ventilation and an inner band of wicking material. This helps to keep a cool, dry head.
I use 2 basic fabrics for this hat:
- Sturdy 10 0z. 100% Cotton Canvas
- Solar weave - a high tech solar protective fabric that has an "Excellent" UV protection rating of 40-50+. It is nylon supplex, so it is very lightweight, breathable and dries quickly.
The Canvas hats are a solid color and the Solarweave hats have a dark colored cotton canvas on the underside of the brim. This adds structure and stability to the brim and also cuts down on the glare.
